It seems that lately I get reminders almost every other day of how long this past winter has been. Now that the weather has changed, the great outdoors keeps calling me, begging me for attention. I really do feel guilty if I don’t answer it and “waste” my time indoors working on the computer or doing chores.
Yes, there are also lots of chores to do outdoors; some are more satisfying than others. There’s one particular chore that I didn’t realize how much I missed during the winter until recently ~ hanging laundry. Sure, it takes effort and foresight (I need to watch the weather forecast), but the rewards are tenfold. I actually get giddy when I think about it ~ I am actually harnessing the sun’s energy to dry my clothes rather than utilizing fossil fuels by using the dryer. The 5 or 10 minutes I am outside hanging our laundry in the early morning are very Zen moments for me. I am being embraced by the sun’s rays while listening to all the lovely music of the birds starting their day. It is the perfect beginning to a beautiful day. When I am out there, it becomes so apparent how much I have missed this activity and how much fuller my life is when I am doing it.
May your mornings start off with sun and songs of life around you.
