April Hart
www.bespokeapothecary.com
April’s herbal journey began with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2010. Immediately wanting to take a holistic approach to her dis-ease vs. the western medicine approach being offered by her general surgeon, oncologist, and radiologist. Naturally, and organically, this brought her to the world of plant medicine. Turning to the world right outside her door for help. Ultimately foregoing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and hormone suppression. Instead using not only nutrition, vitamins, minerals, and plants to battle her diagnosis, but also a mind, body, spirit approach. Learning not only herbalism but also usui reiki, cell level healing, and transcendental meditation.
14 years later and cancer free she works full time as an herbalist, beekeeper and permaculture farmer, alongside her beloved husband, fellow herbalist and greatest advocate, Bill. Their finger lakes region business, Bespoke Apothecary creates, in their NYS certified food production facility, everything from a full skin care line to body, tooth, and haircare products to various herbal teas, tonics, 140+ individual tinctures, syrups and beverages. Nearly 200 botanical based products in total.
April and Bill, their free-range chickens and guinea hens, honey bees and 3 dogs, lives on 85 acres on top of a mountain in Elmira NY. Wild foraging and sustainably growing many of the ingredients in their creations. (as well as producing the honey and beeswax used in their creations)
She is a mother earth lover with a passion for native plants as well as women’s and breast health.

Marguerite, mother, Earthist, Clinical Herbalist-Educator and Registered Nurse who asks Plants permission to speak and relate as a radical wild forager, Plant medicine maker and program developer for EarthSchool. In 2017 she founded the Plant Communication program, "Cultivating Cognitive Agility with Plant, Tree and Nature Allies" a 32 hour training to wake up our indigenous soul through cultivating perceptual diversity. Easy approaches that clarify the messages received from the more-than-human species and surrounding land systems. This path deconditions human exceptionalism and extractive mind over Nature and each other and invites in a more culturally mature world view.
